TO: Faber van Kraanen

My new years resolution: Keep the L5R spirit and Euro playerbase alive through to 2017 by hosting an old skool Kyuden Holland event! The date and time are set, please stay posted for details such as formats, side events (yes, of course this will include Master of Beer) and the like. Happy New year everyone!

Formats and explanations:

- Saturday main event: 20 Festivals constructed.

The regular format at the end of AEG's ownership of the brand, called "A Brother's Destiny" legality on Oracle of the Void, with the ADDED BAN of "Izuna Sensei". You may forgo arguing any merits of this card with me, my mind is set. I know an NPE card when I see one.
Good quality full colour real size proxies will be allowed, so that anyone can play the deck they want without being held back by their collection (I expect quite a few people may not own any Evil Portents).

- Saturday side event: Drafts. Lots and lots of drafts.

A schedule will be made, but count on 2-3 drafts a day, ran next to the other events. There will be no additional charge to participate in drafts. This is to entice players to come that do not want to construct a deck.

- Saturday evening: Acclaimed and traditional Kyuden Holland format: Master of Beer!

This is a 4 player multiplayer game (20F decks. You may use Izuna Sensei if you want to risk it) with a special additional sensei card. Every province represents a beer. Destroy a province (as the attacker, not as an allied player): get the beer. Win by Honor (60): get all remaining beers in the game. Eliminate a player by dishonor: Get his remaining beers. Get all 5 rings in play: Win 2 beers, unrelated to anyone's provinces, from outside the game (Enlightenment is a little too easy in 20F for multiplayer, so had to tone that down from winning all remaining beers as it was before).
The Sensei card gives each player the ability to sacrifice a province for a once per game effect (kept secret until the event). For when you're thirsty and not in the position to win a beer, or for tactical reasons as the beer does count for your tally. The winner of the table is the player that won (and drank) the most beers. If there are multiple tables, a finals table will be had. Beers will be 30cl bottles of regular 5% pilsner. The winner will earn himself the elusive title of "Master of Beer", its corresponding eternal glory, and a massive hangover!

- Sunday main event: 30/30 Scavenger. Original idea by Kyuden Holland's Thijs:

Another format to entice players to come that do not want to construct a deck, 30/30 Scavenger is a format where only commons and uncommons are allowed from 20F legal sets (Ivory up to Evil Portents) and every card may only be included once (aka Highlander rule). Every player uses "Gates of the Second City" as their stronghold, declare two Clans as in Draft and may pick any uncommon Sensei legal for either of those clans. Decks are not reshuffled when empty and 30/30 is the minimum -not the maximum- deck size. You may change cards in your deck between rounds, but not the declared Clans or Sensei.
There will be plenty of cards (especially after all those drafts) present at the venue to build your during the weekend. Basically this is a twist to the fun Peasant format, but making it easier to slap together on site.

- Sunday side event: More drafts. See above.

- Sunday side event: Hangover hang-out.

Do whatever you like. This event is held at a gameshop so there will be plenty of games available to play (or buy) or you can bring your own. We just ask you to buy any consumptions at the shop.

Please ask any questions you may have on the formats in a response to this post, or by PM.
Time schedule, more event details plus travel info coming soon!

WTF!
