The land itself added to the conflict, as loyal samurai and Fallen alike found themselves beset with fever and weakness. True-hearted samurai drew on the strength of honor and forged on. The Fallen had no such resources.
No clan or family was left untouched by the madness; it struck whenever and wherever a weakness could be found.
Not content to let the honorless retain Journey's End City, the children of Shinjo assembled their forces and rode to battle. WIth bushido in their hearts and steel in their hands, they engaged the Fallen.
The names of those who succumbed will be blotted out of their family's history. Those who held true to their honor and raised their sword in the Empress's name earned ageless glory. Thus the Heavens reward virtue.
