Pan'Ku vs Fudo + Gencon 2013

Może i faceless jest mocny, ale jak wczoraj patrzyliśmy jak grają w top 8 i top 16 to nóż w kieszeni sie otwierał. Bo sędzia siedział obok i podstawowych błędów nie widział:( zresztą hamerykanie grali jak 5 letnie dzieci. Poziom europejski jest o wiele większy.

Odpal sobie jajko/octgn i pograj z tymi dziecinnymi amerykanami. Niektorzy, wyobraz sobie, wyrosli juz z pieluch.

Ty lepiej odpal jajko i zagraj ze mna totka;)

Zgadzam się z tym, strzał w stopę, z resztą nawet przy preleasowej dyskusji na temat tej karty pisaliśmy, że DT chyba zgłupiał. Niby był głosy, że 3 GC robi różnicę ale najwyraźniej jednak nie dość dużą.
Może DT miał już te karty w druku jak banowali farmę i liczył, że nikt tego nie spróbuje i jakoś im się uda? Kto to wie

Hey Everyone. I spoke to Tom and I will be posting the deck tomorrow evening with some commentary on the hows and why's of its design. It has been our primary L5R project for the last three weeks, and while we did expect it to have a very good win/loss ratio against the majority of the field, the match ups turned out to be really ideal.

Tom does not really do the Forum thing (tm), but if someone has a particular question I will do my best to answer it outright, or pass the question on to him and post it later.

There were 2 peeps in the Deck - if it matters at all from a storyline perspective, Suikihime is significantly more important than Kazuo. He is there for a one shot 4 honor and +5 PS via Besieged. The chambers and Suikihime however are the actual backbone for the deck. So if a face is needed for how the Imperials stop Pan'Ku, hers would be a good one to choose (and somewhat delicious irony given her Ivory legal card).

As for the story pick, he did specifically want Pan'Ku dispelled and not destroyed.

As for Karei - that is a bit more complicated.
Tom is a Unicorn player by nature. His Imperial Herald membership is Unicorn for example, when he played in the Samurai Championships in L.A. it was with Unicorn, and historically that is his clan. The current meta environment (see KL and Lizwiz) is rather unkind to Unicorn, so his EE victories prior to Worlds were with Mantis and Phoenix (go figure). The story prize of 'pick a clan, your egg screws over that clan' wasn't something he knew and I wasn't there to tell him. So when it was approached as, pick a peep to copy he picks Karei.

There happens to be a pair of Scorpion players in our rather small player base and while he does find dishonor to be rather annoying, he will play Scorpion ninjas when he just wants to ruthless kill things. Karei happens to be one of his favorite personalities in that deck, and as far as he was concerned choosing Karei was a nice nudge to his playgroup who helped build the deck.

So that is my understanding of why Karei was chosen.
I will post the deck with commentary in the Deck Forum tomorrow evening, if there any other questions I will do my best.

The key issue I want to get across here though, is that a Faceless deck winning Gencon is not the issue.
Military decks winning over NINETY PERCENT of the events over the past year is.

This deck is ridiculous easy to beat.
Play Crane honor, Phoenix honor, Lion honor, Mantis honor, Crab honor, Spider honor and cross 40 on your 5th or 6th turn.
This deck loses - EVERY TIME. I know this because we tried it. Tom's plan in the swiss round was to concede to every normal honor runner he faces.
 Over 15 matches, honor runners faced - ZERO.

*THAT* is the problem with the environment.
The Phoenix and Mantis control/kill decks have eliminated the entire Scorpion and Spider deck lists from relevance.
They have also killed every 'normal' honor, dishonor, and enlightenment deck not based out of Kitsu or Kitsune.

This deck kicks the Phoenix and Mantis decks right in the junk. If you want to see how, watch the finals between Case and Tom. It had a win rate well over 90% against those decks - I know that I only beat it once with a Phx military, but my Phx control lost every game. As far as I know our KL decks never won either.

This is a good thing.

If DT is going to allow the Phx and KL decks to continue to obliterate the rest of the environment, than a deck that obliterates them needs to exist.

If DT wants to take all 3 decks out in the street and shoot them dead, our playgroup would be quite pleased with that result, but do not single out ONE deck as the current problem with the EE environment.

Oni na fotm raczej jest T1 i tam mumuku w 3 sztukach zawsze i wszędzie. bo wychodzi w drugiej kolejce, a czasem jedzie w drugiej kolejce
